Yard waste includes things such as grass clippings, leaves, brush, shrubs, garden material, small branches, household plants (no root ball and removed from the potting soil), pruning and clippings from trees and live Christmas trees.
Yard waste shall only be collected by SEM from April 1-November 30.
NOT ACCEPTED AS YARD WASTE: ROOT BALL, DIRT, POTTING SOIL OR SOD.
Residents should use their Yard Waste container, in which all yard waste (especially grass clippings) should be placed. This container is forest green with a bright yellow lid (see container example to the left). NO BAGS of any kind. PLEASE DO NOT USE PAPER OR PLASTIC BAGS FOR ANY YARD WASTE!
ALSO, PLEASE ASSURE THERE IS NO HOUSEHOLD TRASH IN THE GREEN YARD WASTE CONTAINER. Your bin WILL NOT be emptied if it contains household trash.
Please attempt to place as much yard waste in your yard waste container each week (especially since your trash bill pays SEM for this service).
The Town of Middletown Streets Department, on a regular, weekly collection schedule, will continue to collect additional branches and leaves that DO NOT fit into the yard waste container.
If you must place additional yard waste at the curb, please follow the Yard Waste Collection Schedule. Contact Public Works at (302) 378-2211 to notify the Streets Department of your additional needed pick up and place your debris on the curb the night before your scheduled weekly collection day.
The Public Works Department no longer has reserve bins of any kind. Should you need a replacement or additional bin please contact SEM at (302) 832-8000.
