The Town of Middletown has seen recent redevelopment successes in its Downtown and beyond. To continue building on these successes, the Town applied for and received a grant to create a Downtown Development District Plan to develop a unified vision for the future of the Downtown.
The Mayor and Council of Middletown approved the Downtown Development District Plan on March 11, 2019, and shortly thereafter, the Town applied for inclusion in the State of Delaware's Downtown Development District Program. The Town received designation to this important program on Aug. 19, 2019.
In addition to the available rebates to residents and businesses in the DDD district, the Town of Middletown also offers the following incentives:
Expedited Permitting Permit applications in DDD are walked through a multi-department approval process to ensure shortest possible review time. The Town is evaluating further endeavors to reduce review time for properties in the DDD.
Business License Fee Waiver Waives business license fees for new businesses for two (2) years.
Impact Fees Properties in the DDD will receive a 75 percent waiver of impact fees (water, sewer and electric). Construction that would normally require impact fees will make the usual 25 percent down payment of said fees.
